If at first you don't succeed...

Right before I started this blog, Andy and I played several games of Connect 4. I beat him in every game but the first one. Haha...girls rule and boys drool.

Below are pictures from our afternoon at two beaches on the base.

The first beach we went to is really calm and warm. As you can see behind me, there are no waves. I still had a hard time. I'm not meant to be a fish.
On the second beach, it had nice soft sand but the tide was high and the water was harsh. Here is a picture of a fish stuck in the sand.
I can't resist writing in the sand

Andy in the water. The waves were so strong that when one of the waves came up, it knocked him on his butt and turned him around. It was so funny.
Just a picture of the water. There were two surfers out there. One got beat up and the waves brought him back on the beach.

Andy is still asleep

Good Morning. It's only 7:22 am here and I'm up and ready to get the day started. I'm used to getting up so early because I get up when Andy goes to work. Today he doesn't have to work till 4, but here I am...awake. Andy on the other hand is still in dreamworld.

Last night Andy had a softball game and he did wonderful. He had 2 triples and 2 singles. I think he scored 3 times. I'm not sure because I was busy talking the whole time. Here is the funny thing about that. Andy will ask if I saw a play. Of course I didn't because I'm talking but then he gets a little annoyed at me. But really, the reason I go out and he wants to me to go is to meet people. So can he really get mad if I don't see a few plays? =)

After the game, that went into overtime, my friend Liegh Ann, her husband Keith (who looks like Cheddar Bob from 8 Mile), Andy, and myself went to Cold Stone. It was nice to talk and just hang out for a while. I think we're going to have a great time with them in San Diego.

Okay, okay...I didn't want to write about this, but it's a little funny. I wash the clothes most of the time (what else do I have to do?). Andy noticed on the pillow case there was some discoloration. He asked me "you're washing the clothes in cold water right?". My answer to him in a how could you even ask me such a question..."of course, I've been washing clothes for a long time". Well, later in the day while Andy was at work, I was finishing up the laundry and noticed (much to my horror of being wrong) that I indeed have been washing everything in warm water. Dang it! My first thought was "I'm not telling Andy about this". But it was kind of funny that I had to tell him. Geezzz!

I think we're going to head to the beach later this morning when Andy gets up and moving around. Chat with you later.

OH YEAH!!! I forgot. On the side of the blog it says the city and state of who ever is looking at the blog. I noticed there were some from Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri. We don't think we know anyone from there...so could you tell us who you are?

We haven't laughed that much in a long time

This weekend has been a relaxing one that wouldn't be complete without softball (we'll get to that in a minute). Friday night I met more of Andy's friends. We went to a bbq with some of the best food. His friends can cook! Jeff made grilled shrimp that was better than any place I've ever eaten shrimp. Apparently he's known for his cooking skills. They also made a beef tip and pork roast that was tender and juicy....yummy! He also made hot wings that were so hot, he had people crying. He warned them...but you know how guys can be. I did take a going away gift from the bbq. I got 7 mosquito bites. I am allergic to them and they are huge on my leg. I have been putting medicine on them and took benodryl last night and will take it tonight again. Of course, did Andy get any bites? The answer to that question is always NO. Ugh!

On Saturday, Andy had a softball tournament for his command team. They got 3rd place out of 9 teams. Being in the sun for 7 hours was wonderful for my tan although my butt hurt from sitting for so long. Andy struck out 3 times and 2 of them were in the first game! I have watched him play a lot of softball this summer and he has never done that bad. He redeemed himself, but not before having to owe the team a case of beer. We went right after that game and bought it. Saturday evening we had been invited to a wine party. We don't drink wine, but we thought we'd go anyway and bring what we wanted to drink. Nina also recommend a good wine to bring with us. But after the long day in the sun, we decided we just wanted to come home, take showers and hang out. That would have been a lovely idea except about 20 min. after getting home, the power went out in our neighborhood. Andy said, lets go to dinner and watch a movie...and I thought it was a great idea. With no electricity, I couldn't cook dinner and we didn't have our fans to keep us cool. We went to watch Step Brothers. The funniest movie of the year, hands down! We haven't laughed that much in a long time.

Today we had planned on going to the beach. My face got a little too much sun yesterday and I decided that I didn't want to go after all. Instead Andy played his beloved Call of Duty 4 online with his brothers and friends for 6 hours. Yes, I said 6 hours. I was okay with that. I laid around, watched him play, played on the internet, and took a few naps. I wanted to watch the movie again, so I took Andy out for pizza and a movie. It was just as funny the second time around. It isn't a good movie to take kids to. It has A LOT of cuss words.

And so, our weekend has come to an end and the work week begins. Before that happens though, I decided to make brownies. Andy just took them out of the oven and I'm excited to eat one with a welch's strawberry soda. Yummy! Andy will have milk, which I'm sure is a more popular choice with all the readers. Good night.

Good Morning Jets

These jets kept me from going back to sleep. Dang it! I can't imagine what it sounds like on the base. I'll do a blog update later today to tell you about our weekend. Andy and I are going to cook breakfast. Talk to you soon!

Last night I had a dream about school. I dream about school, the teachers, my friends (that are teachers, and the kids a lot. I am sad because the school year is about to start and I won't be starting with them. There is always some excitement when we go back. It's nice to see everyone again and catch up. Although it is a lot of work to prepare a classroom for the first day of school, partly because you are still on "summer mode" and there are just a lot of things to reorganize and rearrange, I enjoy it so much. I probably feel like the kids do as they are getting all their school supplies and getting them organized in their book bags. You remember that feeling, don't you? Over that past few weeks I've really missed not teaching. Some of you (my teacher friends) are probably thinking, "are you crazy!". Usually around this time of summer vacation, I'm ready to go back to school. The difference this time is that I have no school to go back to. The craziest thing of all, is that before coming out to Hawaii, I thought that maybe I wouldn't teach and just get a job. But I now realize that I want to be in the classroom. In the classroom I feel the happiest and most fulfilled.

No rain! Yippee

It has been raining here for the past two days. Today, no rain. Andy wanted it to rain in hopes that softball practice would be cancelled. It rains just about everyday here, but only for a few minutes. The past two days it rained off and on throughout the day. Also, something I think is odd is that it gets dark here about 7:30 in the evening. I think about home and during the summer months it doesn't get dark till about 9 or so. It's just this side of the island that it gets dark so early though. We are on the mountain side, so it gets cloudy and dark every evening around 7:30.

My mom told me she sees a lot of mistakes when she reads my blog. I apologize for this. I write the blog and sometimes reread it before I post, but I don't catch my mistakes. Opps.

Andy has a softball tournament on Saturday for the base teams. At least it is only one day. I look forward to getting a good tan on my arms =). The good news is that on Sunday, we get to go to the beach. I really enjoy going to the beach but Andy doesn't. But because we go to so much softball...I think Andy feels bad, so we get to go to the beach more often than he would like to. We have a very give and take relationship.

Here are some pictures that Andy took when he went snorkeling at Sharks Cove.

It's all about Andy

It has been several days since I've actually written about what has been going on. So, here we go.

First, I just realized that when I do my posts, the time reflects KS time and not HI time. And I can't figure out how to change it. So if anyone who does the blog can tell me, I'd appreciate it.

Next, yesterday we bought my ticket to San Diego. This has been causing me a lot of stress for the past several weeks. I think I've written how Andy is playing in regionals for softball in San Diego. I think he is going to play against other military bases around the U.S. If he didn't get permission to go, he'd be leaving on deployment on the 1st. So I'm glad they said he could go because now we can be together for 3 extra weeks. BUT...the person in charge of this whole thing doesn't know a whole lot of whats going on. We're told one thing and then it changes. I've come to realize that's a trend in the military world. Anywho...I had decided that it was too much stress and that I wouldn't go to San Diego. It made me sad though. He would be state side for 9 days and I'd be in KS. I have to say that the cost of the trip really freaked me out too. The plane ticket was going to have to be purchased regardless, but then there's the rental car and what if I can't stay with Andy and have to get my own hotel room. In the end though, we decided that all that didn't matter. We are about to be separated for 4 months. And while money is important (we all know it is), making memories together is more important. So yesterday we bought my ticket to San Diego. Now, here's were it gets good. I leave the day after Andy is supposed to leave. No biggie, I think. I know someone will get me to the airport. But then I have to pick up the rental car and drive to where ever Andy is. I am not good at directions at all! One of the best things I've ever bought was a GPS for my cell phone. So I feel comfortable about that. Driving in Cali, not so sure about. I've never had to get myself from the airport to somewhere else. Someone has always picked me up. Can we say NERVOUS! I'm so sheltered. I am however, excited to see my family who live in Cali. They don't live far from where we'll be.

Wow...I just wrote a lot. Here are some pictures that I've taken and forgot about. All of Andy.

A picture from Sharks Cove. The land area on the other side of the water is where they film the TV show LOST. The side we are on is a very secluded part of the island. The towns around there like to keep it that way and fight that nothing really be built on this part of the island.

Sharks Cove. See how rocky it is? That's good for snorkeling because the fish gravitate to the rocks but not good for people like me who want the beach and water, no rocks!
Andy right before heading out. What do you think of his shirt? LOL...he hates the way it looks but loves the function. He doesn't get burned!
Andy and his crazy softball "outfit" that he wore at Monday's softball game. Behind him is a softball player, Lugey, from another team. But they play together on the base softball team that will be going to San Diego.
