Hi everyone. I'm sorry its been so long since I've written. It has been a long week. Where do I start?
Andy and I met with the base Chaplin early last week. He has agreed to marry us. On the beach..yippee!! So a date has been set for Friday, July 11th. I know...it is right around the corner!
I also finally got to go to the famous Bob's Bar. It's the local hang out here in town. It was okay but I like Coach's were I have a special drink and people know who I am. Nothing is like being at home.
Now on to the most important (yeah right!) part of the weekend. Andy just corrected me...the WHOLE weekend, not part. I very much missed being in Kansas for the 4th. I always enjoy going to the parade and to Sundown Salute. It just wasn't quite the same. But Andy kept me entertained for sure! He had a state softball tournament. It started on Friday. They lost the first game which put them in the loser bracket. They looked good and only lost by 2, but couldn't pull it out. Andy had a pop up in the last inning which didn't help the situation (he didn't want me to right that, but I am a firm believer in telling the whole story). He did redeem himself over and over on Saturday. With the idea of going home, the team rallied and played 3 games on Saturday. One game they run ruled a team. It was a very exciting day. The only bad thing was...okay..two bad things. One, it was soooo hot, but I have a nice tan on my arms and Andy has a red neck and face. Too bad for him....LOL. The other bad thing was, he had a 9:00 AM game on Sunday! I had to get up at 6:30! I was not happy about that. Luckily, they won the first game. Although they weren't as lucky the second game. That team spanked them. They ended up getting 4th place out of 19. The two teams they lost to were in the final game going for 1st and 2nd which stroked their egos a little bit and took the sting out of the loss.
I did, in between all these games, get to hang out at a pool and see some fireworks.
With all the softball going on this weekend, we didn't get to go on base and see any concerts or go to the carnival. Andy is old and needed rest...okay, me too. Oh wait! The best part of the weekend! Andy had to wear pants instead of shorts. He finally looked like a ball player instead of a basketball player playing softball. Check out the picture.
